Every year four million people use one billion plastic shopping bags.

Two point five billion tones of waste is going to the landfill every year.

The NZ plastic industry generates a  turn over of one point eight billion dollars a year and employs more than eight thousand people.

Eight kg's of NZ's waste per person could have been recycled.

In 2010 the waste problem in NZ improves  by one point five billion.

Auckland

Recycling one plastic bottle can conserve  enough energy to light a light blob for six hours. This was tested by Auckland.

Over New year the amount Auckland chucks increases by 10% and the amount of things we send for recycling increases by 20%.

The average rubbish bin contains 65% of waste that could have been recycled.

Auckland sends 144 KG's of rubbish to landfills every year.

The precaution of packaging waste has doubled since 1994
