With a few lines till my entry,

and the words lapping in my head,

The nervous girl wobbles onto stage,

Positions in center stage,

Quivers,

Talks,

Explains,

Hands the microphone back,

Bows,

And then,

                               And then,

The crowd cheers and the production is over.

Usual enough poem

The paddock was usual enough: It had

a swing, a cow, a creaky gate, one hundred feijoa trees

and even a horse shed that I never went to.

My brother my cousins and I

did what normal kids do- Played softball,

Made obstacle courses, ran around the paddocks,

created huts

doing nothing important.

Every year four million people use one billion plastic shopping bags.

Two point five billion tones of waste is going to the landfill every year.

The NZ plastic industry generates a  turn over of one point eight billion dollars a year and employs more than eight thousand people.

Eight kg's of NZ's waste per person could have been recycled.

In 2010 the waste problem in NZ improves  by one point five billion.

Auckland

Recycling one plastic bottle can conserve  enough energy to light a light blob for six hours. This was tested by Auckland.

Over New year the amount Auckland chucks increases by 10% and the amount of things we send for recycling increases by 20%.

The average rubbish bin contains 65% of waste that could have been recycled.

Auckland sends 144 KG's of rubbish to landfills every year.

The precaution of packaging waste has doubled since 1994

What legends are there about Apples?

An apple is red, green or gold coloured fruit and its round crunchy and sweet.

There are a lot of myths involving apples. About Romans, Greeks, true love, apple bobbing, apple peeling, apple eating, candles, sleeping, and Halloween.  

Roman and Greek myths say that on Halloween, of you go apple bobbing you will be connected to the fiaryland and if you can be the first to grab an apple in your mouth, you will be the next to be allowed to be married. Then, if you take a bite out of that same apple and sleep on top of it that night you will dream of your true love.

On Halloween, if you eat an apple in a room with a mirror and a candle you will be able to see your true love as he/she is looking over your shoulder.

If you peel an apple in different pieces and say ¨fill your heart with thought of love, slice the skin from an apple in one continuous peel, close your eyes and blow on the apple peel, drop the peel over your shoulder and on the ground and see the initial of your true love's name!¨ Then throw the apple peels behind your back and look at the peels!

Apples have a lot of myths and legends mostly involving love in the old times. Next time you get offered an apple on halloween take it and see if they work for you!
